The car ride is unbearable. I keep to my side, staring out the window, but the desire pulses between us. Heat is suffusing my entire body, flooding my core. Every breath, every minute shift of Austin’s body, and I feel it, everywhere.

Who knew that riding in a car without speaking or touching could feel like the best foreplay of my life?

The song switches to one that I’m almost certain was on the Fifty Shades of Gray soundtrack. Honestly, universe? Kill me now. I keep my face turned to the window like my life depends on it, though I can feel Austin’s awareness of me as distinctly as I’d hear sound.

My right hand rests by my side, and Austin traces a finger against my pinky like a question.

Oh God.

A shiver rolls through me. I answer by sliding my hand closer. His whole palm slips over mine, warm and wide, and he laces our fingers together. It feels—perfectly, miserably—like the grasp of lovers’ hands in bed. Austin knows that. He has to know that’s how it feels.

I rest my head against the seat, finally gathering the courage to glance over at him.

He’s staring straight back at me, eyes dark in the flash of headlights on the highway.

The fire in my blood thickens. This is unbearable, so erotic, I think I might scream. Neither of us say a word all the way back to the hotel. Our hands remain linked, and we just… Look.

Is this really happening?

A part of me is freaking out at the force of my desire right now. But a bigger, hornier part is practically drooling in anticipation.

Because I’ve never wanted a man half as badly as I want Austin right now. It feels like a tidal wave of desire is bearing down on the both of us, and God, I want to feel it hit.

We reach the hotel, and I manage to stumble out of the car. We walk silently through the lobby, and outside, down the twisting dark pathway leading to our rooms. It diverges, leading off in two directions, and we pause. Austin’s room is one way, mine is in the other direction.

Austin clears his throat, his voice low and husky in the moonlight. “Listen, Jenn…”

I brace myself. He’s going to bail now, just take it all back and leave me in this weak-kneed state of pure longing.

But when he meets my eyes, the lust in his expression is so fierce, it sends a new wave of heat rolling through me. “You said you wanted to be professional,” he says, flexing his hands at his sides, and I realize, he’s trying to be a gentleman here. Respect what I wanted.

Could this guy get any hotter?

Austin continues. “You said… You wanted to keep boundaries—”

I can’t take any more of his seductive chivalry. I lunge, throwing my arms around him, and cutting him off with a kiss.

And there it is.

Austin lets out a low groan against my mouth, and damn, all bets are off. His hands slide around my waist, crushing me against him, kissing me passionately.
